As we began our two-week journey, our timing was a bit crazy. I just started my own company, and to my surprise, we have been swamped from the second we opened. I guess it is never a good time to leave for vacation when you are in commercial real estate and have clients with needs that can’t wait for you to enjoy the sun. This trip all started about one year ago when my cousin Will announce that he was getting married in Rodanthe, NC. His fiance offered all the guests the opportunity to buy beds in beach houses for the week and Wahl aaa we are at the beach. So, of course, we sent the money and arrived the day before the wedding.
The wedding was on the beach on Sunday evening, and it is always lovely to see two people come together and join each other hand in hand. My cousin Cameron came in from Texas as well as her mom and dad. I have always enjoyed their company and wish we lived closer together. Hopefully, w e can get all the little kiddo’s together someday. Aunt Jayne and Uncle Bill seemed delighted to send off their oldest in a good old fashioned beach party.
We finally looked at a map to determine how far our next trip was and I learned that West Palm Beach was kind of darn far from the Outer Banks, so we looked for a location about midway to stay over and take a road break. Kiawah which we have loved in the past was a bit too close, Hilton Head was too far off the highway so next came Amelia Island just north of Jacksonville. It was perfect. They have a year round tennis and kids club program, so we decided to stay two nights and then journey further south down 95. Hopefully, we can find a beach house a little further north, a lot nicer and with a working pool next year and do it again! It is great to have such a beautiful family.
Our next stop was about 5 hours south on 95 in West Palm Beach, Florida at the very end of Singer Island. We had the Marriott OceanPointe Villa’s booked for about two years now and finally made the trip. It is a beautiful resort like all Marriott timeshares with great suites. We love having a separate room for the kids and a full kitchen. The water is crystal clear and as anyone would imagine it is roasting hot here. We have met some great families from all over the states, and Zane has been working on his swimming. Tomorrow my Aunt Nanette and cousin Niki join us at the pool. Hopefully, we can catch up with Uncle John and his family as well before we begin our adventure home. Update #2 will post upon our return. We leave for Orlando Thursday morning to catch the Amtrak Auto Train to Virginia.
