A post from the beach. Sitting on a lawn chair by the pool listening to an oldies band as Matt plays bingo with the kids on the veranda, Kate plays with a little girl with long braids in the pool, Zane and Remi finish up at Pirate/Princess camp, Carly works from our second-floor balcony. Okay, all is just wonderful although I would prefer my music from my iPhone. What a wonderful trip. It’s around 80 degrees, and the constant smell of burning hot dogs is marvelous.
We are very pleased with our Marriott timeshare. Although we did not buy here, we have been to many others and love this location because it is reasonably drivable very kid friendly and in a beautiful area. Carly’s mom and Papap Rogner are about 20 miles south at the Wachasaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, so we get to spend lots of time with them but let the kids destroy our temp home and not their house. I must admit that the two bedrooms make the biggest difference from a typical trip. The kids are on one side of the family room, kitchen, dining room and we are on the other. Wahooo!
Every morning and evening Matt, Kate and I go for long walks, okay fast walks along the beach and Ocean Boulevard. Kate enjoys them and keeps right up with me. She found a beautiful conch shell in the sand yesterday. Matt would much rather sit on the couch and eat all the burning hot dogs. But I bribe him, mostly with the fact ice cream is south on the strand (he just doesn’t realize it is 15 miles south from here). We walk endlessly every day searching for those waffle cones and then turn around when we realize they are much further.
Zane is swimming very well although we still strap him in a green smiling frog arm floaty. It is mommies peace of mind for vacation. He is fixated on finding shark teeth ever since Matt discovered a small black pointed device on one of our walks. Shark tooth hunt at Wings always works. Every time we go to Woodsy’s pool Zane yells Nico’s pool. He remembers when we visited Tina, Tony, and Nico here a couple of years ago.
Tonight grandma and papap are coming over for a cook-out. Tomorrow and spend the morning at the Steve Dresser Golf Academy at Caledonia.
