It was a great ending to a wonderful vacation. My husband started off the morning riding from Bethany to Rehoboth and got a flat tire about 25 miles in on the way back. The kids and I were at the beach, so we quickly packed up and jumped in the car to get him. I was next, a little nervous about getting a flat myself but decided to make the journey. I am always a bit nervous riding by myself, but I felt great riding and maintained a decent speed. The bike lane and running lane along the highway are amazing, clean of debris and wide filled with many riders and runners. My favorite part of the ride was the new bridge, just beautiful. Dewey Beach is interesting as you navigate a lot of people carrying cases of beer in the bike lane and walking and riding down the wrong side of the street.
About 15 miles along I made it to Rehoboth and found a cute little coffee shop called the Coffee Mill on a side street. I enjoyed a cold juice, checked in with the family to learn the kids still had a blast at the beach and headed back. I had to stop along the bridge to take a quick picture, met a nice lady from D.C. along the way and then clocked my 30 miles for the day. I wish I could do that every day, minus the sore butt without bike shorts (forgot them).
