Our beautiful golden retriever, Teva went to heaven on July 19th. Although we knew the day was coming, it was incredibly difficult to say goodbye and accept the fact she would no longer be with us. She is at peace, and we are all happy that we had the chance to pet her and love her before she passed. She gave us much joy for almost 12 years. We picked up her ashes yesterday, and right now they sit on our mantle in a carved wooden box. I think about her every day.
Our border collie, Kali was lost without her. She would search the house repeatedly running around the main floor and then circle upstairs. I started bringing up the topic of another dog to my husband, and he immediately shut it down. He did not want a 2nd dog again. The kids wanted a chihuahua, my sister has one, and they loved when ChiChi would come over. I found an older puppy online that was adorable and unique and loved the fact the owners said he was around kids and other dogs. Finally, he agreed to check out the little long-haired blue merle chihuahua puppy. Kat and I drove to Charleroi and fell in love him; he was adorable and super sweet. They said that they have been calling him Blu because he has one blue eye, so we kept his name and drove over an hour back home. Kali has been good with the puppy although he is still rather scared of all the excitement in our house.
The funniest thing is that Blu by leaps and bounds likes my husband best. I keep telling Blu “he was the one who didn’t want you” but he doesn’t seem to care. He runs from me but runs to my husband. Too funny. I hope he comes around. I kinda dig him. He digs my husband…so do I. Yes, I am singing the blues.
